“Learning to use natural resources to survive and live outdoors”

At Low Mill we run Bushcraft sessions, sometimes also known as survival skills, using the four principles of Survival:

  • SHELTER
  • FIRE
  • WATER
  • FOOD

Our sessions and courses can be tailored to your or your groups individual needs and is as suitable for primary schools as it is college groups and adults. some older groups have spent the night out in shelters they have made themselves and prepared their own rabbit or trout to cook on the fire for dinner.

The aim of the Bushcraft sessions is to be as practical as possible - a totally hands on learning experience where the whole course is centred around the students, teaching skills such as lighting fires by friction and using your own breath to breath life to the flames, building shelters and finding, preparing and cooking bushcraft foods from basic bread to rabbits (for suitable groups!).

Sessions could be as a half day activity, as part of a multi activity course, or as a whole day or a two day Bushcraft course.

We use a local private woodland where we show the importance of leaving no-trace of our stay behind, and having the minimum impact on the environment.
