Not working? Get Java Buttertubs Pass is a high mountain road which leads across the moors from Muker and Thwaite in Swaledale to Hardraw (famous for the high waterfall of Hardraw Force)and Hawes in Wensleydale. The pass is so called because near its summit the road passes by a group of fluted limestone potholes, which are known as the "Buttertubs".
