We run raft building sessions at Semerwater, North Yorkshire's largest natural lake, near Askrigg, using barrels, wood and lots of rope.

The challenge is to construct a raft as a team that will be able to carry everyone in your team on a mission somewhere, often competing against another raft team.

This is a great activity for building team work, as it requires good leadership and communication within the team, in order to build and paddle the raft successfully. Inevitably, the odd raft will fall apart while on the lake and send all its occupants into the water!

The Low Mill instructor will teach everyone some simple raft building techniques and knots to ensure some level of success, as well as guiding the groups through the process of building the raft. They will then act as a safety boater while the participants are on the raft.
