Our high ropes course has been built in the trees over Mill Gill, just behind Low Mill Outdoor Centre.
The high ropes course is a 'cows tail' course. This is where each participant is kitted out with a sit harness and chest harness, tied together with a length of climbing rope. This rope then forms two 'tails', with a karabiner on each tail. These 'tails' are used to clip onto high tensile steel cables to keep the participant safe, as they move around the course.
Our course is suitable for secondary school aged participants and up, and has easier and harder obstacles in it. The hardest, the Cats Crawl, is a challenge even for the instructors!
The high ropes course has been designed with lots of places to get on and off of the course, so the routes around the course can be modified to allow for all abilities. The lower obstacles on the course can be used independently from the higher parts, so even someone who is terrified of heights can take part, and gradually overcome their fears.
