We normally run our abseiling sessions from Apperset Viaduct, a viaduct on the disused railway line from Hawes to Garsdale Head, 56 feet high at its highest point. We have five different points that we can abseil from, varying from about 8 feet, to the full height of the viaduct. During a typical session, everyone will get to try two or three of the different abseils.

Abseiling is a mental challenge and is all about overcoming your fears.  Once the first abseil has been completed everyone will be racing back to the top of the viaduct for a second go!

Appersett viaduct is only a ten minute drive from Low Mill Outdoor Centre, so you always get plenty of time on a session for everyone to have a few abseils.  For people that need a little bit of persuasion and support, the instructor is always present to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
